1 night Intro to Winter Camping

Experience the joy and challenge of backcountry winter camping with Silver Gull Outdoors! 

Our certified guides ensure a fun and safe winter camping overnight by providing equipment, instruction, support and cooking up yummy meals! This is the best way to scratch this off your Canadian winter bucket list!

Snowshoe a moderate distance, bringing all the special gear needed to a backcountry campsite. Enjoy the beautiful winter backcountry with delicious meals, hot drinks and a cozy sleep system! 

​

This experience requires moderate activity traveling outdoors in winter conditions in a lightweight backcountry leave no trace style. All equipment is brought by pulling lightly loaded sleds. 

​

Silver Gull Outdoors provides:

​

Snowshoes, expedition sled, comfy hip harness for pulling the sled.

​

A winter sleep system: Insulated pads, sleeping bag, sleeping bag liner. 

​

Provided tarps and ground pads are the best winter shelter method. If conditions permit you can build a snow shelter (Quinzee/ Igluvigaq) or sleep under the stars! A 4-season tent can be available for an extra cost.

 

Food & drinks: hearty meals and snacks are provided along with plates/bowls/ cutlery. Drinking water and warm drinks (tea, coffee, hot chocolate, ...) is provided. 

 

You are responsible to bring your own winter clothing, toiletries, medications, special snacks.

 

If you or any one in your group has dietary requirements please advise us in the booking form. We can adjust menus for everyones safety and enjoyment.

Schedule: 

 

Day 1:

This guided experience begins by meeting at a designated trailhead near Gravenhurst, just after lunch hour.

​

Meet your guide and group during our welcoming and simple orientation then gear up and go

​

Travel a moderate distance, stopping often to take in the beauty of nature and address any needs as we go. 

​

Arrive at a designated lakeside backcountry campground and set up, while your guide prepares warm drinks and food. 

​

Enjoy a warm social supper and dessert in comfy insulated backcountry seats. 

 

Sleep the night away in a cozy winter rated sleep system. Tips, & tricks will be taught, and the guide will be present to address any concerns throughout the night. 

​

Day 2: 

Wake up gently in your cozy sleep system to the sounds of winter birds and the guide cooking! Bundle up as you greet the day and join the group for a hot and hearty breakfast! 

​

Pack up your gear, tear down camp, strap on your snowshoes and head back to the trailhead. 

​

Get back in town in time for lunch at your favorite spot

​

Pricing: 

Child aged 8-13 years old = $200 Must be accompanied by an Adult over 18 with a waiver signed by a legal guardian

Single Adult $475

One Adult + a Child (8-13) $500

Two Adults $300 each = $600

- 4 season tent fits 2 people. 
$50 per booking
- Pyramid hot tent + stove.
